How to prepare your kitchen for cockroach treatment
Gel baiting works best when cockroaches have nothing else to eat. Thirty minutes of preparation before our technician arrives makes the treatment noticeably faster and longer-lasting.
The evening before
Wash the dishes, wipe the hob and counters, and take out the kitchen bin. Leftover oil and food crumbs compete with the bait, so a clean kitchen means cockroaches go straight for the gel.
Empty the hot spots
Clear the cabinet under the sink and the shelves around the gas stove and fridge. These warm, damp corners are where German cockroaches hide during the day, and the technician needs to reach hinges, joints and gaps.
Pack food and utensils away
Store open food in airtight containers or the fridge. Keep plates, spoons and baby items in a closed cupboard or covered with a cloth. Gel is placed in tiny dots inside cracks, never on surfaces you cook on.
After the visit
Do not wipe or spray where gel was applied, and avoid using floor cleaners with strong phenyl for a few days. You may see more cockroaches for 2–3 days as they come out — that is the bait working. Numbers drop sharply within the first week.
Keep them from coming back
Fix dripping taps, seal gaps around drain pipes, and do not leave dishes in the sink overnight. Most Hyderabad apartments benefit from a follow-up visit after a month to catch any eggs that hatched after treatment.
